Job 35:6-12
Look up at the heavens and see
gaze at the clouds so high above you.
If you sin, how does that affect him?
If your sins are many, what does that do to him?
If you are righteous, what do you give to him,
or what does he receive from your hand?
Your wickedness only affects humans like yourself,
and your righteousness only other people.
“People cry out under a load of oppression;
they plead for relief from the arm of the powerful.
But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker
who gives songs in the night,
who teaches us more than he teaches[b] the beasts of the earth
and makes us wiser than[c] the birds in the sky?’
He does not answer when people cry out
because of the arrogance of the wicked.

I really like the way you worded this. So often we do feel like we 'deserve' or 'don't deserve' to be treated a certain way. But God doesn't play by our rules. His is not a karma system. Everything that happens is part of His divine plan and He never said we would understand His playbook.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! Sometimes it feels like our worldly desires will be much more fulfilling in the moment than our heavenly desires, which causes us to question which way we live our lives. Sometimes the earthly ways may seem easier, but God has a plan and a purpose for our lives, and even though sometimes his plan seems too hard for us to handle, we must remember that he has a plan behind it all.
