Title of Post

I have known for a long time that Peter is considered the first Pope, but not until now have I seen how revered he was and is.  "Therefore, if the Greeks or others should say that they are not confided to Peter and to his successors, they must confess not being the sheep of Christ" says Boniface.  Are non-Catholics sheep?  I am confided to Christ and no other man, not even the most saintly.  To an extent, I understand Boniface's argument, as Peter is given much authority in the New Testament, but to what extent am I to be submitted to the authority of Peter?  I am open to suggestions.
