Penelope should have said something about the suitors way before this section, but I am glad that she did it, at least. Ashley posted, stating that she respects Penelope for giving her speech to the suitors, and I commented saying I don't necessarily respect her for that, because it was too late. I do respect her reaction to the maid that suggested she clean her face and put on make-up before speaking to the suitors. She cared not one bit, at that point, what the suitors thought of her. She would really rather die than have to be with one of them, in fact she prays for death. I also respect her fidelity to her husband, even though he told her to remarry if he didn't return. She is an admirable character.
