Relatable
In stark contrast to epic poems, scripture seeks to glorify God through tales concerning common humanity, thus the characters are easily related to. As I read through Genesis I kind of have to stumble over the many pieces of culture I do not understand. So much is going on that I have no hope of comprehending, and yet, I still find application. This is a testament to the longevity of God's word, no pun originally intended. Cultures become dated and forgotten, but truth never will.
