Genesis 24

As I was reading Genesis 24, I was reminded of how awesome and promising our God is. Before the servant could even finish his prayer, God sent Rebekah out to fulfill exactly was the servant had asked of God. There was no question as to whether or not Rebekah was the one who would marry Isaac because she did exactly what the servant said she would do. I was also reminded of The Odyssey in this chapter. When the servant asks if he may spend the night in her home, she generously allows him to stay with her family. The also washed the feet of him and his men, and they provided food for the men and the camels. This reminded me of The Odyssey because Rebekah's family treated their guests  so kindly and took them in as if they were family, much like people did with Odysseus and his men. I love how we can connect the two reading together to find similarities.

P.S. I commented on Sydni Holm's blog.

  1. Interesting connection between the works. I discovered a lot of comparisons to the works, but I completely over looked that.
